Who is Joe Biden? What does he believe about LGBTQIA+ rights?
Joseph R. Biden Jr. is an American politician who served as the 47th Vice President of the United States of America from 2009 to 2017. He is presently a member of the Democratic Party, and the President Elect.
In the 20th century, Joe Biden was opposed to equality towards the LGBTQIA+ community. In 1996, he voted for the Defense of Marriage Act, hampering the recognition of same – sex marriages by the federation.
But recently, it seems like Joe Biden has ‘evolved’ and is now in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. He has completely redefined his identity and policies with positions embraced by LGBTQIA+ leaders. His history of anti-LGBTQIA+ advocacy has faded into the mist.
Donald Trump, the current President, is in complete disagreement with providing equality and protections to the LGBTQIA+ community. President Donald Trump is holding over the party platform from 2016 that still opposes same-sex marriage and supports so-called ‘conversion therapy’ for the LGBTQIA+ youth community.
Overall, both Donald Trump’s and Joe Biden’s opinions over the LGBT community have influenced the public’s vote in the 2020 elections.
